Overview
A family had a 1.25 acre lot in Jupiter Farms where the back half had grown wild: dense brush, two dead pines and nowhere for the summer rain to go. They wanted usable land, healthy trees, a real lawn and privacy along the property line, finished in time for a family gathering in late November.
Shoots & Roots handled it as one job: land clearing, tree trimming and removal, Bobcat grading with a drainage swale, then irrigation, sod, planting beds and a hedge.
What the job needed
Family was arriving November 20. Every plant choice had to be something a nursery could actually supply in time.
The back lot held water after every storm. Grading and a swale had to come before any sod or planting.
Two dead pines had to come out, but the large front live oak was the best thing on the property.
Clearing, tree work, grading and planting had to follow each other without gaps or crews waiting on each other.
How Shoots & Roots approached it
The back half was cleared first, with brush mulched in place where it could be, so only six loads were hauled away. Tree work followed, then the Bobcat came in to grade the lot and cut a drainage swale.
During grading the crew uncovered an old, unmarked irrigation main. It was photographed, explained to the family the same day and repaired from the job contingency, so the total did not change. Irrigation, sod and planting were then scheduled back from the family’s date.
